Is OffPDF really free?
The desktop app and the browser tools are. The desktop app is open source under the MIT license, with no paid tier, subscription or feature paywall — every desktop tool is included. The iPhone app is free to download with free everyday tools; its Pro tools are a one-time purchase.
Is the iPhone app free?
It is free to download, and the everyday tools are free: scanning, merging, splitting, organizing pages, compressing, passwords, signing, watermarks, page numbers and more. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks editing PDF text, Word, Excel and PowerPoint conversion, OCR, Ask your PDF (on supported iPhones) and compressing to a target size. Your first Pro result is free — one for the whole app, used only when a result is actually delivered. The price depends on your country and is shown on the App Store. An Android version is coming soon.
Can I edit text in a PDF with OffPDF?
Yes. The free desktop app can change supported existing text in place, in the document's own font, and add new text. Lines it cannot change safely are left untouched. OffPDF for iPhone also changes existing text with Pro (a one-time purchase); your first Pro result is free. The browser tools on offpdf.com/tools cannot edit page text.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. OffPDF processes every file locally on your own computer. Your documents are read and written straight from disk and never touch a server.
Does OffPDF work offline?
Yes. Once installed, the desktop app needs no internet connection. You can merge, split, compress, OCR and convert PDFs on a plane or an air-gapped machine.
Which platforms does OffPDF support?
OffPDF runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64) and macOS 11 or later (Apple Silicon). A Linux AppImage build is on the way. There is also an iPhone app on the App Store (iOS 17 or later).
What PDF tools are included?
The OffPDF desktop app (v0.4.0) includes 23 tools, including Edit PDF and blank-page removal.
Do I need an account to use OffPDF?
No account, sign-up or tracking. There is no telemetry in the app — download it once and it simply does the job.
Can I use OffPDF without installing anything?
Yes. The online tools at offpdf.com/tools let you merge, split, compress, crop and extract pages in your browser. Files still stay on your device. For OCR, Office conversion and encryption, install the desktop app.
